I want to start a blog but I’m not definite about what I want to blog about. I can’t decide between a free blog platform, or a WordPress web hosting blog. “Indecision”. I need to sort those piles of papers, but I wont have time to get the job finished. “Putting things off”. I have to organize my bedroom, my closet, drawers, accessories, and buy that new cover set for my bed. I also need to tidy the room up, but I’m not going to begin now, until, I get the new cover. It wont be finished anyway, the way I want it to be, so why start? “Perfectionism” All different ways of procrastinating. Here’s how to Beat Procrastination Now.
Procrastination is a bad habit, and one that can be over-come, but only by action. Make a list of the things you have been procrastinating over and schedule to beat procrastination by putting one of those tasks on your to-do list, a day, for how many tasks you have. Five tasks, one a day for five days. Do the task you have been procrastinating over first. I bet it turns out not half as bad as you thought it would be.
For an Organized Office, Organized Home or a New Blog stop Procrastinating, DO IT NOW!
If your still having trouble seeing yourself, starting and completing the task, read on. Whether it’s an organized office, an organized wardrobe, re-folding the eight baskets of washing, or starting the re-design for your blog, the trick is to make a start. Challenge yourself, to just begin, and the momentum should be enough to kick the task into gear.
At times I’ll have a big jam up of all our washing to be put away. Usually after being away, and having a few large loads to do. I’ll bring the clean washing in all folded, but procrastinate about putting it away. Keep adding to it daily washing and your in a mess. To tackle this problem, I’ll say to myself, OK, let’s make a start and put 10 items away, each time I pass the washing. I do that a couple of times, and before you know it, I’m finishing the job, preferring then to have a nice clean space. This is the way, to Beat Procrastination Now.
Motivation for today
Sometimes its so difficult to get started on those everyday tasks at the home or in the office. Everything is far more interesting on Twitter and Face book, your blog stream is full of cool stuff to catch up on, even the conversation at the water cooler is more exciting than balancing the petty cash book or finishing off the report for the meeting in two days. Procrastination raising it’s ugly head again. The scientists say that procrastination is a bad habit, and one that can only be broken by action. So do it now. Schedule those tasks you’ve been procrastinating over, to do over the next few days. We’ll wait while you do it now. You can beat procrastination now, but your the only one who can make the decision to do it.
“Tomorrow Never Comes”
Always keep that in mind. You well know, there are people who are fine with waiting all their lives to begin or finish stuff. You are not one of those!
From now on the elusive tomorrow is now “TODAY’. Tomorrow came heaps of times, just like a thief in the night. Tomorrow also came time and time again and most probably you wish you had done more with those yesterdays. I certainly do. From now on lets make TODAY great and harness the power in the present moment.
“You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great” Zig Ziglar.
Self Doubt About Starting Something New
Don’t allow it to paralyze you and stop you from making the first step. You are worthy and beginning will bring with it a momentum to continue and finish. Believe in yourself and your self confidence will develop and we will become the people we aspire to be.
Celebrate Your Accomplishments
No matter how small. A tick on the to do list, a pat on the back for yourself or an affirmation to yourself that “see, I did it” and yes you actually did do it. Treat yourself as number one by doing this and putting yourself first in your life. Don’t self sacrifice, you are far more valuable to the people in your life when you are feeling inspired, motivated and proud of the effort you are making each day. Add to this some healthy eating habits and some exercise and before you know it life will be running far more smoothly. If you decide you need to do something, do it. Don’t let yourself off by saying, “I’ll do it later”, Beat Procrastination Now. Don’t just take my word for it. Read this, from Og Mandino and read it over and over and over again, until you can smilingly say, “I have beaten Procrastination“.
By Og Mandino
“I will act now. I will act now. I will act now. Henceforth I will repeat these words each hour, each day until the words become as much a habit as my breathing and the action blinking of my eyelids. With these words I can condition my mind to perform every action necessary for my success.
I will ACT NOW. I will repeat these words again and again and again. I will walk where failures fear to walk, I will work when failures seek rest. I will act now for now is all I have.
Tomorrow is the day reserved for the lazy and the labour of the lazy. I am not lazy.
Tomorrow is the day when the failure will succeed. I am not a failure. I WILL ACT NOW. Success will not wait. If I delay, success will become wed to another and lost to me forever. This is the time. This is the place. I am the person.”
Organizing work and beating procrastination
Remember to keep a record for the next week of any daily or weekly tasks you do When they need to be done by and how long each tasks takes to do.
Keep reading those words from Og Mandino and do as he suggests.
You’ll Beat Procrastination Now that way.
