Blog Posts Reddit Community Are Looking For
Blog Posts Reddit.com, community are looking for, to share and vote up, are required to follow a certain formula, in order to bring you huge success. With monthly page views often reaching the 2 Billion Mark, you are going to have to write in a specific way, to get your blog post seen thousands of times on a sites such as this. As a blog writer and reader, you would well know, that there are certain types of Blog Posts that people love to share. Some of these posts go viral attracting thousands of readers to your site.
Sometimes they will stay and check out more, leave a comment or even follow you on twitter, but more often than not, the forum type crowd, are mainly following the leader and checking out the latest big thing. So to grab a slice of that action, requires you to produce some specific and epic content, as a blog writer, and that is what these sites are really about. Showcasing epic content. That’s quality number one, for blog posts Reddit community will share, vote up and love reading.
How a blog writer can easily master writing epic posts.
Since I began regularly writing blog posts I have found, the easiest way to put together an epic post or pillar content, as problogger.net Darren Rowse calls it, is by doing it in the same way, as I recommend getting organized.
Start with a cue, an area which has been gnawing at you. In terms of writing, choose an area in your niche that you love and that know you can add tones of relevant info to your post, about that area. The idea is to be so thorough, that you’ll leave your readers satisfied, that you have covered the entire topic. Next get into the routine of adding something to the post everyday until it is complete. The reward lot’s of traffic.
In home organization terms, work on the area everyday, for a set amount of time, until it’s done. The reward, an organized entryway or lounge room if you were organizing, your home. The reward if you were writing, no, Blog Writer Burnout, and an Epic piece of content published. Popular with the reddit crowd, comprehensive lists, like 100 ways to cheer yourself up, on a cloudy day. These types of posts can take hours to write. So I advise you strongly to begin your post, and add to it each day until it’s complete.
I wrote a post about the A – Z of Home Organizing ideas, that featured 26 different home organization bloggers and that took me about 12 hours to research, add pictures to, add links to, write and publish. At the end, you are left feeling quite drained, so I suggest taking the approach that I have mentioned above to avoid that.
It’s your blog, you want to be able to love and have fun with what your doing, so to avoid blog burnout, writing epic posts, in small chunks, will keep you, forever fresh and enjoying your blogging. It will also have you produce blog posts Reddit Community go for.
Writing Articles that are popular on Reddit
To be popular on Reddit.com requires firstly finding the right sub reddit, to share your post to. Once you have opened an account, start looking through the 100′s of subreddits, that you can subscribe to. You can check out the different categories, following the link here.
The Reddit community seems to like comedy, sarcasm, geeky and stuff that’s in, chic, trendy or plain cool. Funny pictures and video’s feature highly as well as comics, great advice, a good payout or well deserved put down. The main point is to appeal to the audience that you are writing for. Add value to the Reddit community, and you are thinking along the right lines. Some of the communities have huge amounts of subscribers, 150,000,or more, others have far less.
If you get onto the front page of a major category, and get voted up the list, the amount of visitors to your site, would probably even crash your server. It’s recommended to post to a subreddit that has at least 20,000 subscribers, in order to see some traffic to your site. Being voted up on one of the front pages of these subreddits, will bring you thousands of visitors to your site, in the coming days.
For an idea of what Reddit is like, here is a short list of some of the most popular categories:
- IAMA – This stands for “I am a.” This is a sub-section of the site that is for professionals, or for people with unique life experiences, to have the reddit community ask them questions. For example, IAMA might be iama repo women, ask me anything, iama crystal meth addict, about to go cold turkey, ask me anything. iama a paid writer. A writer who has just sold their first screen play, answers the questions of the community. During each month, guests will come on to iama for eg; Larry King, to answer questions. Others in this category include ama, which is ask me anything, and amaa ask me almost anything.
- TIL – This is the acronym for Today I Learned. Some Examples include “TIL Ed Edd and Eddy is Cartoon Networks longest running series. Or TIL There is a town in Michigan that is called Hell. Anyone can be the major of Hell for one day if they answer 6 questions correctly.
- Askreddit – Large forum to ask questions that pertain to reddit (What happened to reddequette?) What’s the best brain teaser that you know? or I owe you one favor, what should I ask for?
- WTF – This is devoted to things that make you say WTF. eg: Someone took the time to make this! or Car bomb!
All sub reddits have rules
All the sub reddits have rules, so before posting on one, make certain that you are not breaking any rules, as your link, or question, or what ever it is you are posting will never see light of day. Rules for example, from the WTF category are like these:
New Rules: WTF
- No screenshots (e.g. Facebook, Youtube)
- No memes
- No rage comics
- No politics / posts with political implications - Includes Activism, Call for public outcry etc.
- No re-hosted web comics
- No begging for upvotes
- No links to reddit
- Personal information is not allowed and will be removed, repeat offenders banned
- Links to facebook are not allowed
- NSFW posts must be tagged or will be removed.
- Gore and Porn are not by default WTF, consider posting the more extreme stuff to /r/spacedicks/
As you can see, becoming popular on Reddit, could bring you an enormous amount of traffic, however, unless you are prepared to post in a way that actually adds value to the Reddit community, you may as well save your time. On the other hand, there are so many sub reddits, that it should be an easy task to find one that fits with an epic piece of content that you have written, so in that case it’s worth taking the time, to find the subreddit, that fit’s the post you have written, and post there.
The How To subreddit has 66500 subscribers. It’s a place for interesting how-to’s (tutorials, guides, etc.) For a how to type article you could also look at posting to r/TodayILearned or r/DIY or r/LifeProTips or a similar subreddit r/Fixit Just make certain that you spend a little time checking out the forum first. Get a feel of the conversation that is happening and the way it is being conducted. Next subscribe, read the rules for that particular subreddit and your on your way.
Once you have posted to your subreddit
Make certain to go back and check on how your article is doing. There may be conversations happening and people may be waiting for the host to return and get involved in answering the questions. Not coming back would be like having a dinner party, inviting friends, serving the entree and then you leaving. Not terribly polite, and certainly no way to make new friends.
How often can you post on reddit
The idea is to post when you have something that is really really worthwhile. When you know that what you have to say will add to the reddit community, then that’s the right time. Definitely not after every single post. Remember the type of people that you are posting for. The market. Spend time becoming involved in the community, add to the community and you can’t go wrong.
