Daily Cleaning for an Organized Home
The daily home cleaning list that follow are essential housekeeping tasks for a clean organized home. They are easy to complete in less than 30 minutes a day, once you are doing them on a daily basis. What that means is, the goal of getting your housekeeping up to date, if it’s a little behind, and then making a routine of doing that little bit every day. Will result in a clean house and an organized home.
When you include the meal preps and cooking for the day it does add some time. Try to stick with easy meals for your most busy days and leave the experimenting with harder dishes for your days off.
To develop these housekeeping tasks into a routine habit is the goal.

A Clean House is not far away with these Housekeeping Ideas
We still have a little way to go to a totally clean house and an organized home, but in keeping with the 80/20 principal, we certainly have covered here the top 20% of tasks required to keep the family home running smoothly on a day to day basis.
Home Cleaning List
Check your daily planner and family calendar: twice a day at minimum. In the morning before you leave the home and in the evening before you sit down to relax. (2minutes)
Planner notes: Make sure to update your planner all day everyday and to add all family info to your family calendar.
Kitchen
Dishes: Done daily after each meal or placed into the dishwasher (5minutes)
Sink: Fill with hot soapy water immediately as you begin to cook. Wipe the sink dry and a shine with some paper towel and Windex glass, will leave your sink shinning at the end of the day.(2minutes)
Wipe counter tops and stove: With an all-purpose cleanser wipe over counter tops and stove top after cooking. (1minute)
Wipe any spills on the floor, dustpan collect crumbs: Save the full vac and mop for the weekly clean. Hang dishtowels, squeeze and leave sponges to dry. Wash towels every 3 days, disinfect sponges every couple of days in some bleach and toss every 7 days. (2 minutes)
Prepare breakfasts and lunches: Depending on the age of your family members on how much work you have to do in regard to these two. Its a good idea to do the breakfast prep the night before and have as much of the lunches also ready as you can the night before. (5 minutes each)
Kitchen note: these tasks are for every time meals are cooked in the kitchen. For your sponges, I suggest throwing them away after seven days but it is really up to you. I clean any floor spills with kitchen paper. Check week’s meal planner for what is for dinner, in case you have to get something out of freeze or start the slow cooker. Place a hook behind a cupboard door and hang a dustpan and broom in there.
Bathroom
Put products away and wipe down sink: Once you have cleaned your face and teeth. Use Windex again and some paper towel. (1minute)
Clean splats off mirror: toothpaste is easily removed with the Windex (20seconds)
Wipe toilet seat and rim: spray with some disso and wipe with toilet paper (20seconds)
Clean toilet bowl with the brush: and a squirt of disso (20 seconds)
Squeegee the shower door: dry to stop the watermark drops. You can also use a dry towel; hang floor towels and bath towels to dry (2minutes)
Bathroom note: These tasks take less than a couple of minutes and best-done while you are in the bathroom, first thing in the morning. Keep a bottle of Windex in the bathroom and paper towel.
Bedroom
Fold/put away clean cloths and take dirty clothes to the laundry: make a habit to put them away as you take them off. (3minutes)
Bedside tables: all dish’s taken to the kitchen, put away books and reading glasses.(2minutes)
Make bed: straighten the sheets, tuck in the comforter and fluff up the pillows. (2minutes per bed)
Living Room
Clear projects: pickup games, DVD’s anything that has been left out (4minutes)
Tidy sofa: fold throws and fluff pillow (2minutes)
Wipe tables: with a microfiber cloth give tables a quick wipe over for dust. Use a wet cloth for marks (2minutes)
Handheld vac any crumbs: if there are crumbs on the floor or couches a quick vac will do till weekly cleaning day. (2minutes)
Laundry
Take cloths to laundry: best to start laundry in the morning so you can complete the five steps needed to get to complete. (3 hours when line drying in total)
Put on a load of washing: make sure to sort the colours from whites and hand washing. Wash sheets and towels in hot water (40min depending on your maching)
Hang a load or dry in the dryer: as soon as the machine stops. Stops creasing and keeps washing smelling nice and fresh (3mins or 1min)
Fold immediately when dry: this stops creases from forming so easily. (10minutes)
Put away when folded: or leave in the owners room for them to put away. (5minutes)
A clean organized home in under 30minutes a day
So that’s it. A Clean House in under 30 minutes a day.
Cooking hopefully isn’t taking you anymore than 10 minutes each for breakfast and lunch and dinner 10 minutes prep and nice easy dish’s for the busy days.
As I mentioned above, this isn’t all the tasks we have yet to do to reach our end goal. Some more organizational skills still to master such as:
- some de cluttering,
- menu planning,
- bill payment planning
- fun stuff like organizing your possessions,
- cloths and wardrobe organization,
- making your home look stylish and comfy.
- then the really fun stuff “making some dollars for all your hard work”.
Focus on the task at hand and no multitasking
This is not a race. Remember the tortoise and the hare. The big old tortoise kept plodding along and eventually he crossed the finish line. He beat that hare that was dashing here and there and all over the place doing all sorts of things at the same time as running the race.
The tortoise concentrated, every step deliberate with only one goal in mind.
That’s the mind set you need for learning the organizational skills needed for a clean house and an organized home.
Keep practising and following the home cleaning list (link to keep and share check lists for tons of things) above everyday and everyday trying a little bit harder to see it through to the end. Make note of the routines that fit together for you.
Don’t think about the mess under the stairs
Don’t worry about clutter and piles of toys or full box’s and the mess under the bed. We will get to that I promise.
At this stage if you can just get the daily tasks organized into a routine that suits your day, even if the order has to change from one day to the next.
The main thing is to try and get the tasks working in a routine and forming a habit and then setting yourself onto auto pilot and watch yourself zoom through them each day eventually just like second nature.
